Kim Green is passionate about words. Her writing career has been prolific and widespread. Her degree from Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Communications began with retail and direct mail copywriting which led to writing for the New York Transit Authority and into an enviable exhilarating entertainment career as a Senior Copy Director at Sony Music Entertainment. There, she conceived award-winning corporate campaigns and solidified the voice of Def Jam Records’ marketing and advertising. Kim was also responsible for creating memorable corporate campaigns as well as for artists of all genres, including hip-hop, classical, jazz, and R&B.
Green has also penned two novels, celebrity biographies, creative non-fiction, short stories, essays, and all forms of commercial writing including websites, newsletters, blogs, and speeches. Kim’s work has appeared in Essence, The Source, American Baby, The Philadelphia Tribune, Paper and internationally, i-D and The Wire, both London-based publications. Kim has interviewed countless celebrities including legends Patti Labelle, Mary J. Blige, Harry Connick Jr., Rickie Lee Jones, Al Jarreau, George Clinton, Queen Latifah and Tupac Shakur. As a ghostwriter, Kim worked closely with R&B icon, Fantasia to tell her story in “Life Is Not a Fairytale” which appeared on the New York Times and Wall Street Journal Bestseller Lists and was turned into a Lifetime Television movie.
Green has penned two novels, hallucination and her current novel, “Vicissitudes.”
Her business enterprises include the writing-focused, WORDS, LLC where she serves as a contextual editor as well as a commercial writer for hire. Blank Page Consulting is the company where she serves as a life and writing coach.
