I helped uncover and develop innovate opportunities for major companies, including regional failing airline that was $40 milion in dept, and the innovation led it to be sold to American airlines for $250M within three years. Same for a men's clothing chain that went from $15M to $115 in less than three years. These innovations did not require extra funding, or any change within the company structure. They were innovation opportunities within the existing structure that were not understood.
