A Critical Analysis of Healthcare Service in Lamka
Lamka is the concentrated capital town of the Tribals in Southern Manipur, yet, faces a significant healthcare crisis. Despite its strategic location, the region is plagued by a severe lack of specialized practitioners and medical care facilities, hindering the well-being of its residents.
Geographical isolation and socio-political factors further complicate healthcare access in Lamka. The infamous and ongoing pressing violence in Manipur has escalated the need of proper health infrastructure, facilities and services in Lamka region. The regional development disparity, the concentration of the infrastructure, facilities and services to implement only in Imphal has handicapped the Tribals to access the lifeline Institutions, Facilities and Services.
One of the most pressing issues in Lamka is the absence of specialized medical care. The region lacks oncologists, nephrologists, and cardiologists, forcing patients to seek treatment in distant cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, etc. This scarcity of specialists poses a significant threat to the health and well-being of the population, particularly those suffering from chronic illnesses.
The Tribals are coupled with a Critical Situation due to lack of specialized Health care in Lamka:
· Without access to timely and appropriate treatment, these patients are at a higher risk of complications and premature death.
· Getting treatment becomes luxury and the larger section of population could not afford to get treatment outside the state.
· Patients often have to travel long distances by road via Aizawl, which is one of the most dangerous Highway in India, only to get Flight Service in Lengpui, Aizawl. Only then can the patients reach to the Cities to get treatment.
· The patients have to put their life at risk due to the condition of the road (one of the poorest in India), making it difficult to transport patients, especially those in critical condition.
· Accidents and roadblocks further impede access to healthcare facilities.
The healthcare crisis in Lamka is a pressing issue that demands immediate attention. The lack of specialized care, coupled with geographical isolation and socio-political factors, poses a significant threat to the health and well-being of the population. Therefore, FrameImpacts is taking the initiative to address and press the concern and services to improve healthcare accessibility in the region. The Telemedicine services will be leverage with the integration of FrameImpacts Technology (FIT) SaaS.
